IF HEAVEN WASN'T SO FAR AWAY
I'D PACK UP THE KIDS
AND GO FOR THE DAY
I'D PACK UP THE KIDS
AND GO FOR THE DAY
Whistling quietly, Lee walked towards the clinic that was now 'his', the small animal clinic. Denim walked along at his side, pretending both not to be there, and yet also acting as if she had to be close to him at all times. He didn't mind, the canine was more than well behaved, and she knew what he expected of her. She was the most mindful of his small family's dogs, with Beau coming in second. Reggie was still learning, but he was still more of a pup, and it was understandable that he'd rather explore the world than heel neatly. In any case, Beau and Reggie had stayed at the new home on Cedar Street, with Ellen, while Leander looked around his new workplace.
As he approached the small building, he smiled, already taking a liking to the area. He could see just a sliver of the dog kennels on his left, and a slice of building on his right as well, although he didn't know what it might be for yet. Pulling out a key ring, which he had been given upon his checking in at the main office, he started fumbling through the keys, until he found the one that unlocked the main door to the building. He stepped through, then thought for a moment. He didn't want any patients yet, but if someone were to want to look in, he wouldn't want them to have to be turned away. Shrugging, he left the door ajar, then glanced around the neat waiting room, with a small, triangular reception desk in the corner. A corridor led away from the room, and he could see small brass plaques on the door that was facing him. He noted the plaque on the nearest door to the waiting room, which read 'Examination Room'. He didn't go in yet, walking instead down the open hallway, at the end of which was a door with glass panels, which looked like it led to the outside. Indeed, there was another sign on the side, which read 'Fenced Yard'.
Lee opened the door to the fenced yard, checking the fenceline and the area, before he whistled, "Hey, Deni, come here and wait in here." The blue merle dog bounded through the door, and Lee closed it. He walked back towards the waiting room and turned, now taking in the entire scope of the workplace.
LOSING THEM WOULDN'T BE SO HARD TO TAKE
